Type: Dala Floda (Comercial Type)
This riddle-design postcard, inspired by the opulent beauty of the Renaissance era, incorporates intricate details and references the elegant yet solemn aesthetic of the Dala Floda font. The design mimics a relief effect, drawing inspiration from Renaissance jewelry and geometric patterns to create a sense of depth and refinement.
For this project, we were tasked with visualizing the essence of a typeface. The font I was assigned, Dala Floda, embodies the elegance of the Renaissance period, evoking a sense of mystery and solemnity. It immediately brought to mind Roman columns and the intricate carvings found in European architecture. To interpret the font in a way that reflects both its noble origins and contemporary relevance, I deconstructed its letterforms, analyzing strokes and arms to recreate graphics. Extending the concept of carved architectural details, I employed embossing techniques to enhance the design’s tactile and visual richness.
